FITZROY CROSSING — COMMUNITY CELEBRATIONS
1178. Hon NEIL THOMSON to the minister representing the
Minister for Community Services:
I refer to recent community
celebrations in Fitzroy Crossing attended by the Minister for Community
Services, the Minister for Emergency Services and the Parliamentary Secretary
to the Premier.
(1) How much did the celebrations
cost?
(2) How many members of Parliament
attended and who were those members?
(3) Who else
attended at the expense of the state, not including staff from the Department
of Communities, shire officers, elected members or local community members?
(4) How many Department of Communities staff attended
who did not reside permanently in Fitzroy Crossing?
(5) Was the government aircraft used to transport guests?
(6) Did the celebrations impact on
any works currently underway on the Fitzroy Crossing bridge?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following response has been provided by the
Minister for Community Services.
(1) The event was organised by the
Shire of Derby–West Kimberley.
(2) There were
three: Hon Stephen Dawson, MLC, Minister for Emergency Services; Hon Sabine
Winton, MLA, Minister for Community Services; and Ms Divina D'Anna,
MLA, member for Kimberley, Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier.
(3) One staff
member for the Minister for Emergency Services, one staff member for the
Minister for Community Services and two
staff members from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended.
(4) It is
understood that two Department of Communities staff who regularly work in
Fitzroy Crossing under a travel in, travel out arrangement as part of the
Kimberley flood response attended.
(5) Yes.
(6) No.
