I refer to the Fimiston 1 and Fimiston 2 tailings dams operated by Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) owned by Newmont Mining and Barrick Gold -
(1) Is it correct that the drill hole bore logs for all 15 of the new monitoring bores installed as part of the seepage and groundwater management plan have been provided to the Department of Environment?
(2) If yes to (1), will the Minister table copies of all these drill hole bore logs?
(3) If no to (2), why not?
(4) Will the Minister table copies of all the drill hole bore logs relating to monitoring bores numbers 1 through to 22 constructed around the Fimiston 1 and Fimiston 2 tailings dams?
(5) If no to (3), why not?

(2) Yes. (3) Not Applicable. (4) No. (5) The Department of Environment (DoE) does not routinely request bore logs in relation to the construction of monitoring bores relating to prremises licensed under part V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 . Bore logs are generally only provided in relation to the construction of production bores, which are regulated under the Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1914. The monitoring bores referred to were constructed about ten years ago and a lengthy search of the Department's archives would be required. I do not consider this search to be appropriate use of DoE resources. The request for this information should be directed to KCGM as the owners of those facilities. In relation to the most recent 15 monitoring bores referred to in questions (1) to (3), bore logs were provided to DoE by KCGM upon request.
