(a) Section 2.11(a) of the Local Government Act 1995 (the Act) provides for two methods of filling the office of mayor: elected by the electors of the district or elected by the councillors from amongst the councillors.
(b) This information is available on individual Local Government Authorities web sites and the Western Australian Electorate Commission website. The Local Government Act does not require the department to hold this information.
(c) The elections provisions are included in the review of the Act and are open for public comment. The discussion paper is available at www.dlgsc.wa.gov.au/lgareview .
