Amber-Jade Sanderson questions the Minister for Police regarding the impact of proposed intelligence rationalisations under the service definition and resource model (SDRM) on policing priority areas like organised crime, gang crime, and sex crimes. The Attorney General, responding on behalf of the Minister, states that SDRM proposals are developed by subject matter experts and that the review of intelligence positions is ongoing, with final decisions expected by mid-November 2014.

1084. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the Attorney General representing the Minister for Police:
In view of the proposed intelligence
rationalisations flowing from the service definition and resource model, can
the Minister for Police please explain how a fully rounded policing approach to
the following priority areas will be maintained —
(a) organised crime;
(b) gang crime; and
(c) sex crimes?

AnswerView source ↗

On behalf of the Minister for Police, I thank the honourable
member for some notice of the question.
Service definition and resource model proposals are developed
by the subject matter experts in the business areas being examined and identify
the most appropriate resources to provide the services required from that
business area in the most effective and efficient way. Intelligence positions
were reviewed as part of phase 2 of SDRM, and that is ongoing. Final decisions
for phase 2 of SDRM are due to be completed by mid-November 2014.
