I refer to the Auditor General’s concern in the Financial Audits of Local Government Entities report that the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries didn’t consider the benefits of reporting land under roads justified the cost of its periodic valuation and ask: (a) Will
the Department change its policy on reporting land under roads following the Auditor General’s report: (i) If
not, why not; and (b) Has
the Minister or his department written to local governments outlining a change of policy and if yes: (i) When
did the Minister or a member of his departmental
staff write to the local governments; and (ii) Will
the Minister table the letter sent to the local governments and if not, why not?
