gorgon gas development — premier’s statements
I refer to the Premier’s statements on 3 July 2003, and subsequently on 20 October 2003 in The West Australian titled “Gorgon viable on the mainland” and “Barnett pledges to move Gorgon Gas to mainland”. (1) What steps has the Premier taken to force Gorgon Gas Development from the environmentally sensitive Barrow Island to the mainland? (2) If none to (1), why not? (3) Does the Premier still believe this state would reap a better economic windfall by locating an LNG plant on the mainland with the underdeveloped Maitland industrial estate site south of Burrup Peninsula? (4) If no to (3), why not? (5) What steps has the Premier taken to get the federal government and Chevron Corporation to spend the extra billion dollars to build the project’s main plant on the mainland? Hon NORMAN MOORE

I regret that I do not have a copy of the question, or an answer to that. I do not know whether it has gone astray in the system, but I will check it out and let the member know in due course. If it has gone astray, hopefully it will be found by tomorrow, and the member can ask the question again.
