I refer to the
Switch the Future
program and the answer to question on notice No. 5838 regarding the difficulty in gaining high quality data by which to judge a trial and the answer to question without notice No. 757 in which the
Switch the Future
challenge was provided as an answer to the need to save energy, and I ask —
(1) Was the original trial of thirty households constructed in such a way as to gain the quality of data required to adequately assess the impact of the program?
(2) How will the success of the
Switch the Future
challenge be judged?

(1) The original trial of thirty households was designed to extract specific information on the attitude and receptiveness of Western Australians to energy efficient tips and ideas.
(2) The Switch the Future challenge is about increasing awareness of energy efficiency and sustainability. Over 5,000 customers have engaged with the website and ongoing surveys are showing a continual increase in levels of awareness regarding energy efficiency.
