Firearms licences
249. Hon Rob Horstman to the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to the
requirements to hold a firearm licence under the Western Australian Firearms Act 2024 .
(1) Why are individuals who have transferred a firearm
licence from another state or territory and have already completed the firearm
safety awareness certificate still required to complete the online WAPOL
firearm safety training course delivered by TAFE?
(2) What consideration, if any, has been given to
recognising prior learning associated with firearm licences that have been held
in another state or territory?
(3) Will Western Australia be joining the National
Firearms Register?
(4) What are the consequences for a firearm
licence if the renewal is not completed within the required 90-day period due
to access difficulties and the highly user-unfriendly design of the
government's firearms portal?
