TRANSPORT AUTHORITY — RAILCAR INCIDENT — ARMADALE LINE
1040. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) Can the
minister confirm that a railcar operating on the Armadale line was taken out of
service on 7 November 2013 due to the driver reporting a problem with the
brakes?
(2) If yes to (1) —
(a) what was the cause of the
problem with the brakes;
(b) what action has been taken to
fix the problem;
(c) has the affected railcar
re-entered service, and, if so, on what date; and
(d) had the
railcar involved in this incident ever been involved in any other incidents
related to braking issues prior to this incidence, and, if so, on what dates?
(3) Were any
safety notices, warnings or advices issued to railcar drivers following this
incident; and, if not, why not?

question. It is an interesting question. Unfortunately, I do not have an answer
to it at this stage. I will get an answer to the member as soon as possible.
