I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) There is no waitlist at any of the centres. Clients who either present at or telephone any of the centres are seen within 24 hours for an initial intake assessment. On the basis of the intake assessment, a decision is made about entering into programs and client priority. All emergency clients will be seen immediately. The first available appointment will be booked for non-emergency cases. For adult services, this will range from between three to 14 days. Access to youth services can take between 24 hours and five days. (2) The waiting period for a booked admission into the inpatient withdrawal unit at East Perth is currently four working days. There is no waitlist for emergency admissions unless the unit is full. If the withdrawal unit is full, patients with a history of seizures are referred to Royal Perth Hospital. If there is no history of seizures, they are referred to Bridge House.
