ESPERANCE BUSHFIRES — DEPARTMENT OF FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES —FREEDOM
OF INFORMATION REQUESTS
1341. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Leader of the
House representing the Premier:
I refer to investigations into the
fires at Esperance in November 2015.
(1) Is the Premier aware that a series of freedom of
information requests to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services by
persons acting on behalf of Esperance fire victims have attracted substantial fees
imposed, even though that information would be readily at hand in order for
DFES to prepare its evidence for the pending coronial inquiry?
(2) Given the departmentXXX ###XXXs statutory obligation to facilitate
access, would the Premier consider instructing the minister to consider waiving
the FOI access fees; and, if not, why not?

some notice of the question. The response is —
(1)–(2) This question should
be redirected to the Minister for Emergency Services.
I might follow up on that.
