(1) The Department is currently undertaking an internal review of the 2008
Policy on Neglect
and associated practice materials. The review project commenced in March 2011 and is expected to be completed by March 2012.

(3) The Department is undertaking consultation with a range of internal staff and external stakeholders, including agencies represented on the Child Safety Directors Group:
- The Western Australia Police Service;
- The Department of Education;
- The Department of Health;
- The Drug and Alcohol Office;
- The Department of Housing;
- The Department of Indigenous Affairs;
- The Department for Communities;
- The Department of Corrective Services;
- The Department of Education Services;
- The Department of the Attorney General;
- The Disability Services Commission; and
- The Mental Health Commission; as well as
- The Aboriginal Expert Panel;
- The Commissioner for Children and Young People;
- The Department of Sport and Recreation;
- The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services;
- The Department of Indigenous Affairs
(4) It is anticipated that the revised
Policy on Neglect
and associated practice materials will be finalised by March 2012.
(5) The revised
Policy on Neglect
will be publicly available in the
Casework Practice Manual
on the Department's website once completed in 2012.
