(1) The Department of Planning and Infrastructure (DPI) is responsible for the development and finalisation of the Traffic Impact Assessment Guidelines, as part of the Perth Air Quality Management Plan implementation. The DPI has completed the draft Guidelines, which were submitted to the Transport Committee (TC) of the WA Planning Commission in May 2004, for consideration prior to release for external comment. (2) Yes, once the TC has endorsed the draft Guidelines, it will be available to external stakeholders, including the public, for comment. (3) At its May 2004 meeting, the TC requested a longer period to consider the draft Guidelines. The draft Guidelines are scheduled to be returned to the Committee in July 2004 for endorsement. If endorsed, the draft Guidelines will then be available to external stakeholders for comment. (4) Depending upon the comments received during consultation, the Guidelines are planned to be introduced into the development control/approvals process on a voluntary basis for a trial period of 12 months. The Guidelines would then be evaluated with the aim of being formalised within this process.
