(b) what involvement does CALM and the Minister have in the development of the Luisini Winery under contract to the National Trust through the Ministry of Planning; and (c) what assessments have or will be undertaken on the impact of this development on the environment of the fragile and unique Lakes system and how will the Minister, CALM and the Environmental Protection Authority be involved?
(c) what assessments have or will be undertaken on the impact of this development on the environment of the fragile and unique Lakes system and how will the Minister, CALM and the Environmental Protection Authority be involved?
(b) The Department of Conservation and Land Management has no involvement in the development of the winery as the National Trust has accepted complete managerial responsibility. When appropriate, the Department will comment and provide advice to the National Trust in relation to regional park management within the context of the draft Yellagonga Regional Park Management Plan. (c) To date an environmental impact assessment has not been undertaken on the proposed redevelopment of the winery. I have been advised that the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has not received a referral for any proposed redevelopment for the site. Proposed changes in land use considered likely to have a significant impact on the environment will require referral to the EPA. I would expect that the EPA will seek the advice from the Department of Conservation and Land Management in considering any referral it may receive. It would not be appropriate for the Minister to become involved ahead of these processes.

(a) Luisini Winery is managed by the National Trust. The Western Australian Planning Commission has agreed to provide funding to assist the National Trust for the winery's redevelopment. As part of this agreement the National Trust will accept long term and complete managerial responsibility of the winery. There are no plans to hand the winery over to the Department of Conservation and Land Management.
