SCHOOLS —
PUBLIC–PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP
1115. Hon SUE ELLERY to the
Minister for Education:
I refer to the government's announcement of the new
public–private partnership for eight new Western Australian public
schools.
(1) What are
the roles of Treasury and the Department of Education in both the letting of
the contract and the ongoing management of the contract?
(2) Who does
the school principal deal with on a day-to-day basis about minor works, school
infrastructure and each of the elements in the facilities management contract?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) The
Department of Treasury is accountable for the delivery of the project from
definition, through procurement and construction to handover of the completed
works. Officers from the Departments of Treasury and Education are jointly
involved in the evaluation and recommendation for award of the contract. The
Department of Education has responsibility for the management of the contract
once schools become operational.
(2) The project
company would provide a helpdesk similar to current services allowing the
principals and business managers to deal with minor works and facilities
management.
