I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. (1)-(2) Contrary to the conclusions drawn by the opposition, as reported on page 1 of today’s The West Australian , the Department of Health contacted the office of the Leader of the Opposition on 6 June 2007 seeking an extension of time to respond to the internal review of the freedom of information application decision of 4 May 2007. Mr John Kime, the former chief of staff to the Leader of the Opposition, agreed to a one-week extension. On 11 June 2007, the Department of Health had been able to retrieve only the name of sender, name of recipient, date, time and subject heading of the nine emails. On 12 June 2007, the Director General of the Department of Health, having been informed that only the headers of the nine emails were available, requested that a more extensive search be undertaken of the department’s email retrieval system and that a further extension be sought from the office of the Leader of the Opposition to respond to the internal review. On 12 June 2007, the Department of Health contacted the office of the Leader of the Opposition seeking an extension to 22 June 2007 to respond to the internal review. Mr Alex Temby agreed to an extension to 20 June 2007. The office of the Leader of the Opposition was provided with a response to the internal review on 20 June 2007.
(2) When was Neale Fong informed that the email logs identified correspondence between him and Brian Burke? Hon SUE ELLERY replied: I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
