COCKBURN SOUND — BLUE MANNA CRABS
What is the current status and commercial viability of blue manna crabs in Cockburn Sound? Hon NORMAN MOORE

AnswerView source ↗

I refer the member to the “State of the Fisheries Report 2007-08” for the most recently published information on the status of blue manna crabs in Cockburn Sound. Generally, stocks are recovering after closure was imposed on fishing in December 2006. The arrangements that will apply to the commercial sector when the fishery reopens have yet to be determined. However, the overall catch is expected to be lower on average than that prior to the closure.
