TAXIS — LONDON CAB TRIAL
337. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer the minister to the applications to drive the
London-style TX4 cabs.
(1) How many
applications were received?
(2) Of those
received —
(a) how many
were rejected and on what grounds; and
(b) how many
met the criteria but were still rejected and on what grounds?

AnswerView source ↗

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Transport, I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) Three
hundred and eighty.
(2) (a) One
hundred and thirteen applicants were not offered a plate, as they did not meet
the criteria for the expression of interest for which they applied. Reasons for
not meeting the criteria include payment history, not a conventional lease
plate holder, excessive logons, no taxi dispatch service data, excessive manual
recalls and excessive rejects.
(b) Ninety-four
met the criteria; however, they did not score highly enough for the expression
of interest in which they applied.
