PEEL HEALTH CAMPUS
349. Mr Z.R.F. KIRKUP to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question.
Mr J.N. Carey interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for
Perth!
Mr Z.R.F. KIRKUP : Why is it
that the Minister for Transport can provide money for a car park, yet the
Minister for Health is unable to secure any money to expand Peel Health Campus?
Is it simply because he considers the constituents of the Dawesville, Mandurah
and Murray–Wellington electorates to be second-class citizens?

As the Minister for Transport said,
it was an election commitment, and we keep our election commitments. We know
your tactics. We know your form here, sunshine, so do not worry about that.
Perhaps the member can tell us, by way of interjection, how much his government
spent on capital works at Peel hospital.
Mr Z.R.F. Kirkup : The federal
Liberal government spent $25 million.
Mr R.H. COOK : How much did
his government spend?
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members! You do not all have to answer it.
Mr R.H. COOK : We are all
ears. We would love to hear what members opposite have to say. But let me
assist them. It was nothing—absolutely nothing! We have committed to
$10 million worth of expenditure. We will expand the emergency department and
car parks and make sure the staff have better resources to work with. Thank
goodness we are putting patients first.
The SPEAKER : That is the end
of question time.
