SOUTH REGIONAL TAFE —
ESPERANCE CAMPUS
428. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to construction of the
$17.9 million South Regional TAFE campus in Esperance, made possible by
royalties for regions, which is expected to begin construction in the 2020–21
financial year.
(1) Has a contract
been awarded for construction of this project; and, if so, when will the
successful tender be announced?
(2) Was the contract awarded to an
Esperance-based business?
(3) If no to (2), where is the
successful construction business based?
(4) How many
companies were short-listed for this tender, and can the minister please
provide a breakdown of whether the short-listed companies were regionally or
metropolitan based?
(5) Was there a local
content provision as part of this tender process; and, if so, can the minister
please provide details?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(5) A
contract has been awarded and will be announced shortly. Under the Western Australian
industry participation strategy, the contractor will generate local economic
benefits and opportunities for local industry and local job opportunities,
including for apprenticeships and traineeships.
