245. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the Minister for Disability Services:
I refer to the response to question without notice 222 about
the continence management and support scheme.
(1) How many people are on the waiting list?
(2) Of those people on the waiting list —
(a) what is the longest time
someone has been on the list; and
(b) what is the average time a
person is on the list?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) As at 11 June 2013 there were 1 231 people on the waiting
list.
(2) (a) Six
months. The budget for the continence management and support scheme subsidy for
incontinence products was expended in December 2012 and a waiting list began.
(b) The
average time cannot be determined. Once the budget for subsidies is expended,
new subsidies are allocated to people on the waiting list once an existing
subsidy recipient becomes ineligible for the program through leaving the state,
moving into residential aged care or passing away.
