SCHOOL CLASSROOMS
1131. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
(1) Have any
small capital assets or transportable classrooms been purchased in the 2016–17
financial year to date?
(2) Is the
air-conditioning replacement program operating for the 2016–17 and 2017–18
financial years; and, if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) Between 2012
and June 2016, $15 million has been spent on the replacement of
air-conditioning units. The program was initiated to address needs identified
in the building condition assessment survey. Ninety-five schools have benefited
from this program. Further funding of $8 million has been included in the
forward years of the budget, commencing 2018–19 for two years, for a similar
replacement program. Any urgent requirements will be managed under the
Department of Education's maintenance program.
