(a) The total number of people waiting for public housing as at:
30 June 2015 – 40,857; 30 June 2016 – 36,167; 30 June 2017 – 29,544; and 30 June 2018 – 23,257.
(b) The total number of applications as at: 30 June 2015 – 20,127; 30 June 2016 – 18,530; 30 June 2017 – 16,516; and 30 June 2018 – 13,912.
(c) The former Housing Authority did not capture the number of children and dependents associated with each application in its reporting mechanisms.
However, it is expected that the capture of individual, rather than household level data, will commence shortly. This will enable the Department of Communities to produce more detailed reporting in the future, with a more holistic view of each application being provided, which in turn will assist in the delivery of the vision of the newly formed Department’s people, place and home.
