ALBANY HIGHWAY — ROADWORKS — KOJONUP
1313. Hon LOUISE KINGSTON to the minister representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to the current condition of
Albany Highway, a vital piece of road infrastructure connecting Albany and the
south west to the rest of the state.
(1) Noting the
work that has taken place south of Kojonup, what works are expected to take
place on the road to improve safety along additional stretches of the highway?
(2) Does the government have plans
to construct additional passing lanes?
(3) What is the
status of offset acquisition relating to Kojonup South SLK 254.9 to SLK 266,
which was recognised as partially compliant
due to Main Roads WA not meeting the condition that offsets be acquired within one year of commencing works?

On behalf of the minister
representing the Minister for Transport, I thank the honourable member for some
notice of the question.
(1)–(3) The state government is currently installing
audible edge and centre lines and constructing sealed shoulders on this
section of highway as part of the 2023–24 regional road safety program.
Main Roads has acquired 196.24 hectares of remnant vegetation at lot 7874,
which is sufficient to meet the offset requirements under CPS 7898/2.
