National Close the Gap Day
223. Hon Neil Thomson to
the Leader of the House representing the Minister
for Aboriginal Affairs:
I note it is
National Close the Gap Day.
(1) When does the government expect to
publish its Closing the Gap annual report
2024–25, noting we are now eight months from the end of the financial year?
(2) Has any progress been made on the Aboriginal
community–controlled housing organisation strategy, which was paused in the
2023–24 report?
(3) Has any progress been made on the key
action, timeframes, agency responsible or progress status of the WA Aboriginal
Health Partnership Forum, noting this was also paused at the last time of
reporting?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) The Western Australian Government
will publish the 2024–25 Closing the gap annual report alongside the Closing the Gap
2026–28 implementation plan in the near future.
(2) Yes, the state government is actively
strengthening the capacity of the Aboriginal housing sector through a
$6 million commitment in the 2025–26 budget to deliver the Community
Housing Capability Program, delivered in partnership with Shelter WA, that will
boost the capability of the community housing sector.
(3) This question should be referred to
the Minister for Health.
