I refer to the McGowan Government's commitment to rail car manufacturing as part of the MetroNet Project, and ask: (a) Will the on board traction transformers be manufactured in WA or imported; (b) Will the switchgears be manufactured in WA or imported; (c) Will the dispen dampers be manufactured in WA or imported; (d) Will the propulsion systems be manufactured in WA or imported; (e) Will the motors be manufactured in WA or imported; (f) Will the bogies be manufactured in WA or imported from Alstrom; (g) Will the auxiliary converters be manufactured in WA or imported from Alstrom; and (h) What other components will be manufactured locally?

(a)-(h) At least 50 per cent of the contract value will be delivered locally, with the full extent of components and sub-components that will be manufactured in WA currently being finalised.
It is noted that under the former Liberal-National government, only 2 per cent of Transperth railcars were built locally, while TAFE fees were increased by 510 per cent.
The Liberal Party’s opposition to railcar manufacturing in Western Australia and local jobs is well documented.
