I refer to the closure of the Swan Valley Nyungah Camp, and given that the objective of closing the camp was to address the Government’s serious concerns about child abuse and domestic violence, I ask -
(1) What monitoring was undertaken to establish how many alleged abusers remained within their family units after the closure of the camp?
(2) What ongoing monitoring has been conducted?

(1) and (2) Before the closure of the community the Minister was advised there were seven family groups residing in the Swan Valley Nyungah community. All families are currently housed and there has been Departmental involvement and support of these families. I am not aware of any problems being experienced by the families and it appears the children are currently doing well with all regularly attending school. The Department believes the parents are providing appropriate care for the children. Home visits are now occurring only periodically as the families appear stable and are aware that they can contact the Department for assistance. No other concerns have been raised by any of the communities in which these families reside and there have been no reports made to the Department in regards to the welfare of the children.
