Department of Communities—Missing child
161. Hon Nick Goiran to the minister representing
the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the
publication on the department's Facebook page on 13 May 2025 about the
two-year-old girl who was reported missing earlier that day and then thankfully
was subsequently found on that same day.
(1) What were the circumstances that gave rise to
that child's whereabouts becoming unknown?
(2) What were the circumstances that led to the
child being located?
(3) For how long was the child's whereabouts
unknown?
(4) Are there any concerns about the suitability
of the child's ongoing care arrangements as a result of this incident?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question. The following response has been provided by the Minister for
Child Protection. The Department of Communities advises the following.
(1)–(4) The safety and wellbeing of
children is always the Department of Communities' highest priority. In keeping
with the intent of the Children and Community
Services Act 2004 , Communities does not comment on individual cases.
