The Department of Transport advises:
(1) The cost of manufacturing the physical card is $3.5313 each.
(2) Production is carried out by a private contractor.
(3) The contractor is paid per card manufactured.
(4) Contractor is ABnote. The contract period is from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2012.
(5) The total cost of the contract, over five years, is approximately $12m.
