COLLIE–BUNBURY
BUS SERVICE TRIAL
1463. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I
refer to my questions without notice 365, 795 and 1010, of 7 May, 20 June and
10 September 2024, on the essential Collie–Bunbury bus service
trial that ended in January 2024 but has continued operating in a cloud of
uncertainty and an information vacuum since.
(1) From the
trial data, what modelling or analysis has the Public Transport Authority
undertaken in relation to the provision of a dedicated Collie–Bunbury
bus service, including required passenger numbers, costs of bus service
provision and community value tied to the provision of the service?
(2) Will the
minister table the data for the house and outline the decision-making matrix or
criteria applicable to delivering a permanent Collie–Bunbury public bus
service; and, if not, why not?
(3) Will the
minister now commit to provide a dedicated public bus service for the residents
of Collie that will allow them to attend, amongst other areas, TAFE,
university, employment, social outings and vital medical appointments?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. This answer has been provided by the Minister for
Transport.
(1)–(3) The
Collie–Bunbury bus service is ongoing while the results of the trial,
particularly patronage and cost of the service, are evaluated. A decision about
the future of the service will be announced in due course.
