Undergraduate students must be undertaking studies in the second and third year of their course to be eligible for scholarship assistance, the scholarships are awarded for the academic year. Students may apply each academic year for scholarship assistance. (2) As scholarships are awarded for an academic year, registration of recipients will be staggered over the future years i.e. a second year student will not be eligible for registration for at least 2 years. The Nurses Board of Western Australia's (NBWA) public register reveals that: · 2005 - of the recipients, a total of 58 have been registered. Of these 41 are employed in the public health system and remain employed in the public health system in 2006. · In 2006, a further 10 recipients have been registered and are employed in the public health system. · The remainder of undergraduate recipients are still studying and will be eligible for registration on the completion of their course and employment as a registered nurse. (3) Data is not available - this information is not collected as scholarships are provided to assist with the completion of nursing studies per academic year. Scholarship recipients are required to provide information of their academic record and completion of their course. A condition of the scholarship agreement is that the graduate seeks employment as a Registered Nurse in Western Australia. They are not required to provide the name of their employing organisation. Employment can be in either the public or private health sector. This fulfils the conditions of the scholarship award. The Department of Health's Graduate Nurse Connect recruited the following number of local graduates for the Public Health Sector: 2003-2004 2004-2005 2005-2006 331 498 456 (4) Data is not available - information is not collected on employment in the private health sector.
