WAGES POLICY —
COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC SECTOR UNION–CIVIL SERVICE ASSOCIATION
518. Mr P.A. KATSAMBANIS to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
Does the Premier agree with the Minister for Commerce's assertion that
this wage offer is cost neutral, given it will result in over 30 000 days of
additional leave per annum that will either have to be backfilled or result in
cuts to frontline services or both?
Mr W.J. Johnston : I never
said that.

The Minister for Industrial
Relations is interjecting behind me to say that the member is misleading about
what the minister has said.
Mr P.A. Katsambanis interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members!
Mr M. McGOWAN : I think we
have put forward a reasonable offer to the state's public sector
workforce.
Mr P.A. Katsambanis interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for
Hillarys!
Mr M. McGOWAN : It is a negotiation.
We want to make sure that our public sector workers, our police, our nurses,
our doctors, our teachers—whoever it might be across the state—are
properly rewarded for the work they do, but our $1 000 wages policy will stand.
The SPEAKER : That is the end
of question time.
