CORONAVIRUS — HOTEL QUARANTINE
136. Hon
MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the minister representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to Public Health Amendment
(COVID-19 Response) Act 2020 regarding recovery of hotel quarantine costs.
(1) How many hotel-quarantined
persons, as defined by the act, have been accommodated to date?
(2) Of those
identified in (1), how many persons have been issued invoices associated with
their hotel quarantine costs?
(3) How many persons has the Chief Health Officer
waived part or all of the fee relating to hotel quarantine costs?
(4) How many
persons have an outstanding debt to the state relating to hotel quarantine, and
what is the total cost outstanding?
(5) In the event
that a hotel-quarantined person contracts COVID-19 from hotel quarantine, is
the fee payable waived, and has there been
any request for payment or further compensation granted in these circumstances to date?

(1) As at 30 April 2021, 43 294
persons.
(2) The number of people issued
invoices associated with their hotel quarantine costs is 33 308.
(3) The number is 3 898 persons.
(4) As at 30 April 2021, 5 865 invoices were outstanding.
Each invoice may relate to more than one quarantined person. As at 30
April 2021, the total cost outstanding is $19 580 025.
(5) Fee waivers
are assessed on a case-by-case basis. No request for payment or further
compensation has been granted.
