(a) $1.8 million over four years has been allocated to three services administered by the Department for Community Development. These services are the Carer Health Awareness and Retreats program, the Grandparents Care Service and the Carers Counselling line and they are designed to provide statewide services from the metropolitan area. $8.2 million over four years has been allocated for services to be administered by the Disability Services Commission. Of the funding committed to date by the Disability Services Commission from the Caring for Carers package, the North West of the State has benefited directly from respite and family initiatives totalling $209,030. People with disabilities and their families in the North West have also benefited from statewide initiatives totalling $810,114 funded through the Disability Services Commission’s component of the Caring for Carers Package. (b) The Department for Community Development services are available to carers in all towns and communities across the State. In addition to the Disability Services Commission’s statewide services, funding has also been allocated to the East Kimberley, West Kimberley, Pilbara, Broome, Carnarvon, Derby, Exmouth, Karratha, Kununurra, Port Hedland, South Hedland and Western Desert Communities. (c) The Office for Seniors Interests and Volunteering within the Department for Community Development is responsible for administering the funds for the Carer Health Awareness and Retreats program, the Grandparents Care Service and the Carers Counselling line.
