The total area of unallocated Crown land in Western Australia is approximately 93 600 000 hectares and the total area of pastoral leased land in Western Australia is approximately 87 080 020 hectares.
(a) and (b) The assessment of fuel loads on unallocated Crown land outside the metropolitan area and outside townsites in Western Australia needs to be directed to the Minister for Emergency Services.
Under the
Bush Fires Act 1954
and the
Land Administration Act 1997,
the lessee as occupier of Crown land has the responsibility to extinguish fire hazards occurring on their land. It is up to each individual pastoral lessee to estimate fuel loads and conduct fire management and prevention activities accordingly. No central register of fuel loads on pastoral land is maintained, and as such no data is available.
