OCEAN REEF MARINA —
BUSH FOREVER
763. Hon ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the
Minister for Lands:
I refer to the development of the
Ocean Reef marina. Will the minister please provide the estimated total
bushland clearing for the project, regardless of whether that clearing is
associated with the marine or terrestrial elements of the project?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Lands.
It is proposed to clear
approximately 19 hectares of bushland. A portion of land zoned Bush Forever has
been retained and provides a natural green buffer between the marina and
existing residential properties. A Bush Forever negotiated planning outcome has been supported by the Department of
Planning, Lands and Heritage. This NPO sets out strategies to help ensure
the long-term protection of our environment, including the purchase of
approximately 26 hectares of Bush Forever offset land and approximately five
hectares of onsite bushland rehabilitation. In addition, fauna relocation will
be undertaken prior to any works in the bushland.
