In light of the Government’s projected increasing energy costs in Western Australia, I ask:
(a) what is the Government’s policy on the selection of power sources for new Government infrastructure projects (such as hospitals) in regional and remote areas of Western Australia;
(b) can the Minister advise what is the capital cost to Government of connecting the new health and hospital facilities in Port Hedland and Karratha to the existing power supplies;
(c) does the State Government have available to it within any of its agencies an assessment of the capital cost for the Pilbara health facilities of Port Hedland and Karratha being connected to solar panels to generate power for the hospitals and to feedback into the local grid for power generation; and
(d) will the Minister table details of what would be the ongoing operating costs to the taxpayer of operating solar panels at the Pilbara health facilities over a 10 year period, having regard to comparative maintenance costs and reliability of any non-solar solutions?
