HEAD CONTRACTOR RELIEF SCHEME
44. Hon
STEVE MARTIN to the Minister for Finance:
I refer to the government's
head contractor relief scheme.
(1) Will the minister outline how
many claims to access the fund have been assessed?
(2) How many claims have been
successful?
(3) How much of the funding
allocated to the scheme has been spent?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) A
total of 120 head contractor relief scheme claims have been or are currently
being assessed by the Department of Finance and the Department of Communities.
That includes 107 claims that have been approved, with financial relief
payments totalling $4.98 million. I have asked the Department of Finance to
advise how we can expedite assessments, including those currently in progress,
to provide relief for eligible head contractors as quickly as possible.
Honourable member, I met with the
Master Builders Association of WA last week and discussed how we might do that.
