810. Hon LOUISE KINGSTON to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to concerns raised with my
office that individuals who intended to hand in their firearms were required to
select ''seized'' when completing forms at their local police
station.
(1) Will the
minister table a copy of the buyback form?
(2) Is a ''seized''
firearm marked permanently on someone's record?

some notice of the question. I provide the following answer on behalf of the
representative minister.
(1)–(2) The
Western Australia Police Force advises that the current licensing system does
not have the capacity to record the firearm as ''surrendered''
under the firearms buyback scheme. However, once a licence is renewed, the ''seized''
firearm will be removed and a new copy of the licence will be issued. I table
