MORTALITY RATE
801. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the BMJ Public
Health article published on 3 June 2024 that examined excess mortality
across the western world since the COVID-19 pandemic and found —
Excess mortality has remained high in
the Western World for three consecutive years, despite the implementation of
containment measures and COVID-19 vaccines.
(1) Has the Chief
Health Officer or another senior officer examined this issue for our state?
(2) Has excess
mortality also remained high in Western Australia for three consecutive years?
(3) Has the
minister or the director general been briefed on this issue?
(4) Will the
minister or the director general commission an investigation into the
underlying causes of persistent excess mortality rates as recommended by the BMJ article's researchers?
