MILYEANNUP AND NANNUP FIRES — POST-INCIDENT
ANALYSIS
456. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I refer to the post-incident
analysis commissioned by the minister's department and conducted by
consultant Noetic into the fires last November at Milyeannup–Nannup.
(1) Has the
minister's department or the consultant distributed copies of the draft
report to stakeholders, including the Minister for Environment, for comment or
deliberation?
(2) Was any
finding made about negligence or liability by the Department of Environment and
Conservation?
(3) When will the report be presented to the State Emergency
Management Committee?
(4) When will the report be tabled in Parliament?
(5) Can the
minister outline what moves have been made to compensate the owners of damaged
property and injured worker Mikk Annamaa?

AnswerView source ↗

On behalf of the Leader of the
House, I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) The draft
reports were distributed to key stakeholders to check factual accuracy. This
did not include the Minister for Environment.
(2) The reports are yet to be considered by cabinet and as
such cannot be commented on at this stage.
(3) The reports
will be considered by government prior to being presented to the State
Emergency Management Committee.
(4) The tabling
of the reports will be considered and determined at a later date.
(5) A range of
financial and other assistance has already been provided to Mr Annamaa and his
family, and to property owners affected by this fire. Further information in
terms of assistance cannot be provided as the report is yet to be considered by
cabinet.
