I refer to the water supply that runs from the Derby Highway, alongside the Derby Gibb River Road to Mowanjum, and I ask: (a) is the water supply provided via this pipeline able to be accessed by residents of the Hamlet Grove suburb; (b) if yes to (a), to whom does a resident make application to be connected to this pipeline; (c) if no to (a), why not; and (d) if yes to (a), what is the anticipated cost of a single dwelling connection to this water main?

The Minister for Water has provided the following response.
(a)       Not without a significant upgrade.
(b)       Not applicable.
(c)       The lots at Hamlet Grove were approved by the Western Australian Planning Commission in 1985 without a requirement for a reticulated water supply. The water main that runs along the Gibb River Road was not designed to service Hamlet Grove. Without a significant upgrade, additional connections would cause unacceptably low water pressure in other parts of the scheme, in particular the Mowanjum community, during peak demand.
(d)       Not applicable.
