(1) Is it correct that the Department of Conservation and Land Management is proposing to take action to eradicate buffel grass in the State’s pastoral area? (2) If so - (a) what action is being contemplated and why; and (b) when will such action begin? Hon TOM STEPHENS

(1) No. (2) Not applicable. However, buffel grass is an invasive introduced species that has an adverse impact on conservation values. Targeted control may be undertaken on conservation reserves and proposed conservation reserves that are at risk and when it is considered that control will be beneficial and effective.
