ALBANY
CENTENNIAL PARK SPORTING PRECINCT REDEVELOPMENT — MINISTER FOR SPORT
AND RECREATION'S COMMENTS
935. Mr P.B. WATSON to the
Minister for Sport and Recreation:
I draw the minister's attention to the headline on
the front page of the Albany Advertiser on 5 November that states ''Pavilion plan put on hold''. Why does
the minister not provide the $8.75 million in funding for the Centennial Park
Sporting Precinct redevelopment promised at the last election so that the City
of Albany can award the building contract and the rest of the project can
proceed?

AnswerView source ↗

I did not miss that one, member for Albany. I did see the
front page of the Albany Advertiser ;
I actually do read the papers.
Point of Order
Mr
P.B. WATSON : Mr Speaker, I did not ask the question could she read.
The
SPEAKER : Right; minister.
Questions without Notice Resumed
Ms M.J. DAVIES : We
are very proud of the investment we have made into sport and recreation
facilities right across the state. I have had a number of conversations with
the Mayor of Albany, Dennis Wellington, about this project. He is pushing very
strongly for us to make a decision in that space. He is correct; a commitment
was made. By my count, we still have just under 18 months until the next
election. There has been no broken promise in this space. That business case is
under consideration. They are continuing to work through it with the Department
of Sport and Recreation and I am very confident that we will deliver on that
promise.
