(1)The Department for Child Protection provides services to this age group as part of its core child protection and family support service provision. This expenditure cannot be separately identified without specific research, and issues such as providing services to families with children in and out of this age group would affect the reliability of any estimates.
The Department's Best Beginnings program specifically provides services to children from birth to two. This program represented 0.3 per cent of the 2009-10 budget for the Department.
(2) The total amount spent on the Best Beginnings program in 2009-10 was $1.119 million.
As indicated under Q1, the Department provides services to this age group as part of its core child protection service provision and this expenditure cannot be separately identified.
(3) The Best Beginnings program specifically provides services for children from birth to two and was wholly funded by the state child protection budget in 2009-10.
(4) The Department provides the following services to this age group as part of the Department's core service delivery.
- Supporting Children and Young People in the CEO's Care.
- Protecting Children and Young People from Abuse and Harm; and
- Supporting Individuals/Families at Risk or in Crisis.
