The Strategic Direction Report was noted and Cabinet requested that a one-year (2002/03) and a four-year (2003/04 to 2006/07) implementation plan be prepared. This first year implementation plan was finalised by the Taskforce on 26 March and will be submitted to Cabinet in April. The Report was launched by the Premier on 1 April together with the Department of Health's mass media campaign to increase physical activity in the community and the key departments' funded initiatives in response to the report. (2) The first year implementation plan makes four recommendations to Cabinet to progress the physical activity strategy. (3) It is expected that the implementation of the physical activity strategy will continue through to 2011.
