I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) The Minister
for Mental Health received the following written requests for meetings from Dr George
O'Neil—one dated 15 May, another dated 17 May and also on 7
June 2016.
(3) Dr O'Neil
met with the previous Minister for Mental Health and a representative from the
Mental Health Commission on 20 January 2016. This meeting was originally
scheduled for 14 December 2015 but was rescheduled to 20 January 2016. Further
to this, the Mental Health Commission has met with representatives of the Fresh
Start recovery program on several occasions during 2015 and 2016. The Minister
for Mental Health also wrote to Mr O'Neil on 8 June 2016 in response to
concerns he raised as part of his meeting request on 17 May, and indicated that
the Mental Health Commission would continue to liaise with him regarding
tendering opportunities as they arose.
