(a-d) The Department of Justice delivers Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) interventions within the custodial environment aimed at addressing offending behaviour, reducing recidivism and supporting safer reintegration into the community. These programs are delivered to eligible sentenced prisoners assessed as presenting moderate to high risk in relation to FDV.
Participation numbers fluctuate in these programs as they are voluntary unless explicitly required as a condition of a court order. Eligibility and prioritisation of participants are determined through formal assessment processes.
The Stopping Family Violence (SFV) program is delivered at Acacia Prison, Bunbury Regional Prison, Casuarina Prison, Karnet Prison Farm and Wooroloo Prison Farm.
SFV is available to sentenced male prisoners who are in custody for family and domestic violence or have been identified as having FDV-related treatment needs. Between 17 March 2025 and 17 March 2026, a total of 72 offenders completed the program.
The Not Our Way program (NOW) is delivered at Casuarina Prison, Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison, Greenough Regional Prison, Roebourne Regional Prison and West Kimberley Regional Prison.
Eligibility criteria for NOW is consistent with other FDV programs. Between 17 March 2025 and 17 March 2026, 49 offenders completed the program.
The Parole In-Reach Program (PiP) is delivered at Acacia Prison and Wooroloo Prison Farm and is currently operating as a pilot at these locations.
Eligibility for PiP is limited to sentenced male prisoners located at Acacia Prison or Wooroloo Prison Farm who are eligible for parole or serving short sentences. Participants must have no pending court matters, no sexual offending in their current sentence (unless in the context of an FDV offence), be assessed as moderate to high risk, and be recommended for FDV treatment. Participants must also demonstrate willingness to complete the program, including the capacity to attend community-based group sessions in or near the Perth CBD.
Between 17 March 2025 and 17 March 2026, 53 offenders completed the program.
