The Minister Replied:
Department of Transport
(a) (i) Transport's Road Transport Compliance Unit at Rivervale is planned for relocation during 2000-001;
(ii) Transport's Licensing Centre at East Perth is planned for relocation during 2000-01;
(iii) Transport's Licensing Centre at Rockingham will relocate on 28 August 2000 to Benjamin Way Rockingham; and
(iv) Transport's Licensing Customer Services Branch (and Call Centre) will relocate during September 2000.
(b) (i) There is no formal lease arrangement between Transport and Main Roads for the Road Transport Compliance Unit, however the site needs to be vacated prior to the end of 2001 for redevelopment purposes;
(ii) The lease for the East Perth Licensing Centre expired in May 1999 and is currently on a monthly tenancy arrangement;
(iii) The Rockingham Licensing Centre was collocated with the Western Australian Police Service at the Council Avenue site. The Westeren Australian Police Service have relocated and will be selling the site;
(iv) The Licensing Customer Services Branch is currently located at Transport's head offices at Murray Street, Perth, and is being relocated as part of an accommodation expansion program.

(d) (i) The Road Transport Compliance Unit is collocated with Main Roads Heavy Vehicle Operations Unit and Police Escorts. These three Units are required to be situated close to the heavy vehicle industry (in the area of Welshpool);
(ii) The East Perth Licensing Centre will be located in a shop front situation within a commercial zone in the same area;
(iii) The Rockingham Licensing Centre is being relocated to a site in the Rockingham area that is suitable for its operations and access by residents;
(iv) The Licensing Customer Services Branch is being relocated to Westrail Centre at East Perth.
