METRO AREA EXPRESS LIGHT RAIL
409. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
Considering that the Treasurer said this morning that the transport plan
funding is contingent on the sale of Western Power, how can any transport plan
that the Premier releases be believed if he has not made such a decision?

AnswerView source ↗

I suggest that the Leader of the
Opposition ask the Treasurer if he is so curious as to what he said. I do not
want to spend my mornings wandering around monitoring what ministers say. I trust
the ministers to do their jobs, and they do. It would seem to me to be
self-evident that a transport plan for Perth, which is what it is—it is
a plan prepared by transport professionals, not by government or ministers—is
to lay down across all modes of transport what are the likely projects and
investments between now and 2050. It is not going to be costed, because each
project will be considered in isolation one by one. Therefore, could a transport
plan from 2016 to 2050 be dependent on the sale of Western Power? No, of course
it cannot be. It is a nonsensical question.
